Sigiriya
The 5th-century rock fortress rising from the plains — Sri Lanka’s most famous sight.
ExploreExperience
Ancient capitals, rock fortresses and living temples across the Cultural Triangle and Kandy.

Sri Lanka has a written history going back more than two thousand years, and much of it is still standing. The Cultural Triangle between Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and Kandy holds several UNESCO World Heritage Sites within a few hours’ drive of each other, and Galle Fort adds a colonial chapter on the coast.
Temples are active places of worship: cover shoulders and knees, remove shoes and hats, and never pose with your back to a Buddha statue.
